So how many of you are regular readers/viewers of the blogs and vlogs on Afterellen.com? Well, today's Hottie (only a couple days late) is one of the wonderful Vloggers. You can see her in We're Getting Nowhere.
This week's hottie is ... Jill Bennett!
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jill discovered her love for performance at a relatively late age of 16 when she starred as the title character in a school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (my high school did this my sophomore year).
She studied theatre at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
She then headed to Hollywood and landed her first television role as a nurse on a daytime soap, which I could not find the title.
Most people know Jill from the weekly AfterEllen vlog I mentioned earlier, "We're Getting Nowhere," which she co-hosts with Dara Nai and Karman Kregloe. Sometimes referred to as "the terrible three," Jill and her co-hosts recap different television shows, the first of which was South of Nowhere. They have also recapped It has been announced that after they finish recapping season 1 of The L word, it will be the end of WGN, which really sucks, but I realize they have lives of their own. Personally, I believe one of the coolest things about WGN is that it is filmed in Jill's living room (the first episode, and a few others are actually filmed in her bedroom).
You can also see Jill in the lesbian webseries, 3Way, with Maeve Quinlan, Cathy Shim, and Maile Flanagan. Jill plays Andrea, the new girlfriend of Roxie (Cathy) who recently moved in with her straight best friend, Siobhan (Maeve), creating the 3Way in the title, but Geri (Maile), Roxie's ex, pushes herself into the group. 3Way includes a couple different shows within the show. Siobhan is on a soap opera, her co-star played by Rob Moran (Arthur Carlin from South of Nowhere). She also tried out for a show, Lady Cops, which is a parody of Niki and Nora (with Christina Cox and Liz Vassay as the main characters). The show has had several other guest stars including Mandy Musgrave (SoN), Kristy Swanson (BtVS movie), Elizabeth Keener (LWord), Jenny Shimizu, and others.
Jill is currently in Dante's Cove on here!, a premium cable network. Created by Michael Costanza and directed by Sam Irvin, Dante's Cove combines elements of the horror and soap opera genres in telling the story of Kevin (Gregory Michael) and Toby (Charlie David), a young couple seeking to be together and overcome the dark mystical forces that conspire to separate them. Jill joined the cast during season 3 (I believe replacing Erin Cummings). I don't know much about this show, have not watched a single episode and wikipedia does not have much at all, but it does explain some of the mythology behind the show. Thea Gill (Queer as Folk) and Michelle Wolff joined the cast during the second season and Jenny Shimizu joined during the third.
Jill joined the Sugar Daddy Show drag king troupe, which quickly established itself as one of the premiere cabaret acts in the west. One of her characters, Butch Monroe is the current reigning drag king of Los Angeles. I am trying to see if there are any pictures in existance. I'm currently awaiting friend approval on MySpace.
In addition to her acting endeavors, she has co-created four new television series, all currently residing in development hell.
According to her official website, "her deepest desire is for world peace and complete equality for all...(and a series regular role on a good television show.)"
I love Jill in everything I've seen her in, which granted, isn't much, but still. WGN is hilarious, as is 3Way. Her role in The Pleasure Drivers was a little odd. I don't think she had any lines and the whole raping a man in the butt with her gun wrapped in plastic thing was kind of disturbing, but I was sad to see her die in the end. I haven't seen it, but apparently she is really good in the movie "In the Line of Fire."
Also, Jill was number 3 on AfterEllen's Hot 100.
You can learn more about Jill at her official site, which I have a link above, IMDb, and AfterEllen.
