So, this has absolutely nothing to do with anything remotely LGBT, but I love football, especially New England Patriots football.
Yesterday, in their season opener, the Patriots beat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10. Unfortunately, they lost quarterback Tom Brady for the game, and most likely for the season. Brady was injured early in the first quarter when he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw, and collided with Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. Brady’s left knee buckled as he followed through with the pass, and he went down holding the area just below his kneecap. You can see footage of the injury here. Wide receiver Randy Moss was able to catch the pass, but then fumbled it and the Chiefs were ale to recover the ball. Brady had a 128 consecutive starts, the 3rd longest streak in NFL history.
I have no clue what this injury could mean for the Patriots this season. Maybe Cassel will be able step up like Brady did back when Bledsoe got hurt and we first found out about the awesomeness that is Brady. I don't see that happening though. The Patriots were lucky with Brady, its not likely they'll get that lucky again. We can only hope that the defense is able to hold the other teams' offenses enough that our offense won't have to work hard.
Today I am wearing Brady's jersey, good ol' number 12, in honor of the great player he is. Also, it might be my only chance to wear it this season. I hope the New England Patriots and their fans, hear some good news today. Brady is supposed to get an MRI. Maybe, just maybe, it isn't as bad as everyone thinks.
