UGH! I know I have been extremely bad at updating my wonderful *coughcough* blog, but this semester has been pretty rough on me since I've been dealing with a lot of stuff that happened near the end of the spring semester and this summer. School is just plain old CRAZY. It doesn't help that all but one of my classes require a paper which is worth a HUGE part of my grade. I have one due tomorrow that I have barely started, my small birthday (my 21st) celebration tomorrow night, an office Christmas party (with Secret Santa) Friday afternoon, a surprise birthday party Saturday night (for someone else), a take-home final due Monday which I haven't even started on yet (and most likely won't start until Sunday), two papers due Wednesday, and then a final on Thursday.
FUN.
Anyway, all this means I most likely won't be updating regularly (as if I ever was) until the end of January (I'm going to Maine for Christmas, up north for New Year, and then Germany until about a week before the wonderful things called classes start again).
I might occasionally post about something, such as my trip to Germany, if any good lesbian storylines show up on television, or any other reason, but in case I don't, have a good holiday (whatever holiday(s) you celebrate) and a happy new year!

Cadie or Sallie?
ABC, how I hate to love you.
First you bring Callica to us fans of Grey's but then you snatch it away just as fast, without as much as an explanation. Then you break Callie's nose (first scaring the SHIT outta all of us with the scene at the beginning without any context). Now, you are making us happy once again.
Enter Sadie. Rumors had it you guys had straightened her up, but this week's ep makes it look like you just might have realized what fools you were getting rid of Erica. Callie and Sadie. While you've already done it (Callie with an intern), it makes sense considering all the residents and attendings (with the exception of Bailey) are hooking up with an intern at least once.
Now, I may be disgracing some lesbians by saying this, but, the best part of the whole Callie/Sadie storyline this week? Callie and Mark. Yep, the two of them being best buds talking about sex and which interns are hot? Oh yea. I love it.
ABC, keep it up! (Although, the whole Izzie and Denny thing? Weird!)

First Kiss
So, one of my friends has been bored lately and has filled out several of those surveys as notes on Facebook.
One of them actually proved useful to me, although, it was more her joke answer than anything else that got me thinking about a blog topic, but still.
So, without furthur ado, who portrayed your favorite first kiss?
(alright, so, this vid doesn't just show their first kiss, but searched for like, an hour looking for their first kiss. could not find just that scene)
(second kiss is hotter, but still and don't you just love how Sara Ramirez doesn't mind not being the prettiest, girliest girl on the cast)
Let me know what's your fave and if I missed some, let me know! I know there are some I misssed, such as various L Word kisses, Willow/Tara, Weaver/Kim, Weaver/Sandy, but I searched and searched and searched for clips of those kisses, but could not find any (and for TLW, I just didn't want to post a shitload of first kisses from that one show).
And just because I find this video HILARIOUS:

Germany and The L Word
So, this morning, I made a trip to my local post office and applied for a passport. In four weeks, I will have said passport. Then, in January, I will be on a plane heading for Europe, specifically (if you can't tell from the title of this post) Germany. One of my best friends from high school is doing a year abroad, and I decided I would go and visit her for two weeks (more like take advantage of her generosity and crash at her apartment, for free). Now, I realize this has absolutely nothing to do with anything LGBT, except the fact that I am gay, but I figured since most of the people who read this on any sort of regular basis are my friends, well, its worth knowing to them.
So, just a few minutes ago, I actually bought my tickets for my trip. I am EXTREMELY excited now that there is basically nothing stopping me from flying to another country in about three months. I am almost as excited as I was when I bought Spice Girls Reunion Tour tickets (Yes, I was a dork and went to see the Spice Girls at the age of 20, get over it). Anyway, as I was checking my e-mail I saw a message from my fave blogger, Dorothy Snarker. A while back, when I posted about 8 Against 8, Snarker had a drawing for Season Five of The L Word. I entered it, thinking I wouldn't actually win, but lo and behold, that's what the e-mail said, that I have won.
Today could not get any better.
:0)
Just to make everyone else feel as good and happy as I do right now, here's a little treat.
Now, for something not funny, but much, much, MUCH better.
Have an AWESOME rest of the weekend ya'll!

Callica No More
I love Grey's Anatomy, I really do, but the only reason why I first started watching, were the rumors that Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Erica (Brooke Smith) were gonna hook up. Now, Erica is gone ... and didn't even say good bye.
Before I get into my reaction and opinion, I wanted to point you all toward Dorothy Surrender's latest post about the whole situation here. She is so much better with words (and yes I stole the above picture, but damn Brooke Smith looks hot in it) and so I figured, instead of attempting to write something clever and powerful, I'd let her say it (and push more people toward reading her blog, because basically, its awesome).
Now, I watched it, prepared to completely yell at the screen because the idiots at ABC thought having Erica leave would be a good idea, BUT, and as much as I hate to say this, they at least gave Brooke a chance at doing some awesome acting. She was breaking my heart throughout the whole episode. She seemed more emotional over the whole Denny thing than Izzie did (which could be just because Katherine Heigel doesn't care anymore, but whatever).
There was one thing that REALLY pissed me off. At the end, when Erica and Callie were fighting, Erica says something about Callie not being able to be sort of a lesbian. I was rooting for the writers all throughout this, but that was over the line. Yes, having Callie sleep with Mark wasn't right either, but I could understand what they were trying to do. This, I don't see the point in having Erica being that big a bitch to Callie. Also, and as many viewers have pointed out, Callie never said she was a lesbian, NEVER. As a matter of fact, the whole storyline of Callie sleeping with Mark, I believe, was to make it obvious that she was bisexual, not lesbian, because of course, bisexuality is always a phase on television and never lasts long.
I really wanted the Callica story line to work out. I was reading so many good things about, Shonda Rhimes, Sara, and Brooke all talking to people from GLAAD. If only the ABC executives had talked to someone from GLAAD. The reasons they give for firing Brooke are horrible and unacceptable. I'll admit, before the relationship with Callie (and still a little bit when she interacts with Grey's group) I did not like Erica Hahn. Since she has been with Callie, even just as friends, she has become a much more likable person.
Anyway, check out Dorothy Surrenders post, she included a link to a campaign to get Erica back by sending in ... leaves.

Beam Me Up Wolfie!
So, for a class, I had to sign up for some journalism mailing list and I fell across one titled, "Today's Word on Journalism" Now, every day during the school year, I receive an e-mail with some quotation about journalism. I kind of enjoyed today's more so than I have any other day, and since it is based on something fairly recent, thought I would post it here for you all.
"[I]t wouldn't have been television news without some bravura hype and aggressive flashiness. On CBS, Katie Couric (as calm and confident as she's been at the anchor desk) hosted a sober presentation. Every other set looked like something you'd pick up at a Circuit City in Dubai. . . . But those gizmos--merely straightforward efforts to present data engagingly--were nothing compared with an embarrassing stunt that CNN first attempted in the 7 o'clock hour. Wolf Blitzer was in his New York command center standing 10 paces away from a 3-D rendering of a reporter: 'Jessica Yellin via hologram in Chicago.' The effects were such that she was ringed in an off-purple aura from head to toe (a distance, it seemed, of about 4 feet). This was distracting, perfectly superfluous, and in no way an advance on the good old two-dimensional Yellin to whom we are accustomed. This was just the latest example of CNN's weakness for state-of-the-art technology that shows you little more than its state-of-the-artiness."
-Troy Patterson, Slate television critic, Nov. 5, 2008.

Election Day
So, today is the day we find out who our new president will be ... hopefully. I am so glad this dumb ass election is over. I am sick and tired of the television ads and radio ads and newspaper articles or stories on broadcast news, I am SICK AND TIRED OF IT. I am a journalism major, yes, but I HATE politics. I don't like reading about politics, I don't like talking about politics, if its related to politics, I do not like it. In every single one of my classes, we talk about politics. One of my finals will have a part about the coverage of the different parties and how it compares.
I personally don't like either candidates. They both have some major marks against them in my books. I voted, but I was voting on the lesser of two evils. McCain is against gay marriage and the right to choose. Obviously, I am all about gay marriage, and I'm not even one of those people who insist it should be called marriage (although, I would much prefer it to be), I just want the same LEGAL rights as straight couples get when they get married, and if I want to call it a marriage, whether some dumb ass church or the government recognizes it as that, I will fucking call it a marriage. I do not know if I would ever be able to have an abortion, even if my pregnancy was from some horrible event, but I would like to have the choice. Obama is ALSO against gay marriage (don't let him fool ya with the pro-gay rights) and wants to take money that my parents worked hard to earn and give it to people who didn't work hard. I am all for charity and people helping others who need help, but don't force people to give their money, because they'll just get pissed and resent it. Also, some people who are above the point of getting help from the government, still NEED help and are barely hanging on. My father had two jobs at one point and we were just able to pay our bills and still have food on the table.
Now that I have bitched about the two candidates, and no I am not going to tell you who I voted for, I will talk about some of the other issues on the various ballots around the country. California has proposition 8, which would overturn gay marriage in California. This would mean Ellen and Portia (and all the other couples that got married) will no longer be considered married. Everyone loves Ellen, let her stay married. Some states have questions about early voting. I for one, am totally for early voting. I thought I was not going to be able to vote. I actually skipped my last class so I could get home earlier and make it to my polling place before 8pm. In Maryland, early voting also means being able to vote wherever. I could care less about when I vote, but I would like to be able to vote on campus, that way I don't have to skip class to get to vote.
Now, time to watch a map online telling me when districts start reporting and when states are called.

Fave TV Lesbian
So, I was on AfterEllen today and saw their list of TV's Hottest Lesbian/Bi doctors ... and DAYUM (come on, Olivia Wilde and Sara Ramirez as the top 2? Well, DUH!)
Of course, as always happens, it is impossible to include all the hot lesbian/bi doctors on the list, although, including Jorja Fox from her ER days was a pleasant surprise, but they skipped Elizabeth Mitchell's Kim, the psych doc that was Weaver's first girlfriend.
Who is your favorite lesbian/bi doctor on television?
Here are just a few of mine:
Olivia Wilde - 13 (House)
Sara Ramirez - Callie Torres (Grey's Anatomy)
Jorja Fox - Maggie Doyle (ER)
Elizabeth Mitchell - Kim Legaspi (ER)

Wednesday Hottie Part 2 - Belated
Chandra Wilson. The hilarious, genius of an actress that plays Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey's Anatomy. I love this woman. She's five feet of great acting skills, impeccable timing, and confidence. For such a short woman, especially on a show where everyone else, except some children, are taller than her, she is just amazing. Bailey is by far one of the best developed characters on Grey's and I believe it is mainly due to Chandra and her ability to make Bailey seem like a real person. You can relate to her. She has her ups and downs just like any other person. She just happens to be a great surgeon as well.
Everyone goes to Bailey for advice, many times ending up with the comical expressions Chandra is probably best known for. Like when Callie went to talk to Bailey about having sex or, "going south of the border" with Hahn.
Bailey also has the best lines. Before last week's episode, my favorite Bailey line was from when she was having her baby.

Wednesday Hottie Part 1 - Belated
I'm horrible, I'm horrible, I'm horrible. And I know it. UGH! I really want to get to a point where I am updating this thing at least once a day, everyday, and being on time every week with Wednesday Hottie. I'm working on it people. Classes and work and trying to stay sane are taking up a whole helluva a lot of time.
On Friday night, the second of eight final episodes of South of Nowhere aired. I will definitely miss this show. I couldn't choose between the two main actresses, Mandy Musgrave and Gabrielle Christian, so, they are both Wednesday Hotties!
I'm really making up for being a bad blogger aren't I?
Mandy and Gabi are best known for their work on South of Nowhere but they have both done many other shows, including episodes of CSI, CSI: Miami, Drake and Josh, 3Way (Maeve Quinlan's Web series), and many more.
Gabi is awesome. Her voice drives me insane. She's great to her fans too! I've met her twice at the SIDS Walk in Greenbelt, MD. I got a picture with her the first time, and two autographs, one for me and one for my best friend, the second time. She seems really down to Earth and was accepting fans as friends on her MySpace while she had one (it was recently deleted for unknown reasons, at least unknown to me).
Mandy is also awesome. What is it with the N casting girls with these amazing voices that just send shivers down my spine? Really. Also, while Gabi is more girl-next-door hot, Mandy is just sexy hot. "Trust me, it won't be spontaneous" Yes, I realize Mandy doesn't write the lines, but this line from the first season, before Spashley becomes, well, Spashley, Mandy delivered this line amazingly.
I will be posting another Wednesday Hottie ... hopefully.

8 Against 8
So, while I am not one of the 8 Against 8 in the title, I am definitely against Prop. 8 in California. No, I don't live in Cali, but I am a lesbian who might one day live on the west coast and want to get married.
Check out Dorothy Surrenders for everything about this donation campaign. Unfortunately, I do not have any money to donate, but I figured getting the word out might get some other people to donate.
The website is www.8against8.com and several of the words that are links will bring you to the page as well, including the picture.
Please, donate or help spread the word as well!

End of the Weekend Wednesday Hottie
So, after watching House this week, and then especially after seeing the previews for next week (which I will talk about later) I really wanted to make Olivia Wilde my Wednesday Hottie ... again, but I decided that wouldn't be very fair to all the other hotties out there.
So, this week, Hottie #1 (I will post two since I skipped last week and am late this week, yet again) is the beautiful Sara Ramirez from Grey's Anatomy.
Sara (pronounced Sa-da) is just awesome. She's a great actress and she can SING. She seems to have always supported the LGBT community in many forms. For those of you who don't know who she is, and haven't read any of my older posts from when I first became obsessed with Grey's, she is Callie Torres, ex-wife of lovable George (played by out actor T.R. Knight), and currently involved with fellow female doctor, Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).
This week's episode was hilarious and Sara was just totally adorable. Her two conversations with Bailey and then the last scene with Erica, loved them.
:0) I LOVE CALLICA but especially Sara.

Politics
Hey everyone, Wednesday Hottie is going to be posted this week, just not yet.
I just finished reading one of my fave lesbo blogs, Dorothy Surrenders, and felt like her post today on Prop. 8 in California, which would overturn same-sex marriages in California (so everyone who loves Ellen and Portia will no longer have the wonderful married couple to look up to), was just amazing. I couldn't put it any better myself, so instead, I'm just linking you all to her.
Please, go read and watch the videos. Also, you should check her blog out every day.
Stop the hate, say NO to Prop. 8

Wednesday Hottie
Looks like I'll just get this one in on time. Woot!
This week's Wednesday Hottie is a little different than others. Instead of a single person, I'm celebrating a group of people ... Women with Red Hair.
I don't know what it is about a woman with red hair, but my heart always skips a beat when I see one. I think it's because red hair is so rare compared to all the other colors possible.
Dina Meyer
Hayley Williams
Kate Walsh
Emily Blunt
Drew Barrymore
Alyson Hannigan
Kate Winslet
Gillian Anderson
Marg Helgenberger
Kari Byron
Did I miss any hot redheads? Who's your favorite?

I Kissed a Girl
I've mentioned this song before. I absolutely HATE Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl. The lyrics are not gay friendly, they are actually anti-gay.
Okay, now that I am done with that, I LOVED Lance Bass's routine on Dancing with the Stars last night. The fact that they used I Kissed a Girl for a Lance routine was PERFECT and HILARIOUS! The end was the best ever. I mean, really, in the context of a gay man dancing with a woman, the song is PERFECT! Lance kissing his female dance partner than pulling out a thing of cherry chapstick. I officially love Lance.
For you losers, here's the dance:
In other gay news, apparently Miley Cyrus has decided to hold her Sweet 16 party at Disneyland on the same day as the annual Gay Day celebration. She's kicking everyone out on the one day LGBTQ people can go to Disneyland and be open about who they are with and show some PDA. I use to like Miley (at least the show Hannah Montana is funny int he little kid funny way), but this kinda pisses me of.

Don't Ever Order from This Company
Hey everyone. Today's post is a pure rant. I try to make all my posts be at least kind of interesting to everyone. I'm sorry, but I am PISSED.
So, Uh Huh Her, Leisha Hailey's new band, had a CD come out back in August. I knew that I would want to buy it, so I pre-ordered the CD back in March.
I have yet to receive my CD.
I ordered the CD from Nettwerk. I had never heard of this company before, but I followed a link provided to me by some UHH website. I will NEVER do business with them EVER again. First, they are based in Canada so I can't really call them and complain, would cost way too much money, but that's okay, I can e-mail them. At first, they were really good about responding quickly. That did not last though. I sent an e-mail earlier this month, and never got a response. So, the other day, I wrote a very angry e-mail. That got a response. Of course, what the person responding wrote, is EXACTLY what I have told them several times. They refuse to believe me or call the United States Postal Service to confirm what I am saying. I understand them not believing me. I wouldn't either if I were in their shoes, but I would try to confirm what my customer was saying.
I know I am not the only person who ordered their CD from Nettwerk and not receive it.
Anyway, I responded to the latest e-mail today. If I do not like the response I get, I will be asking for the e-mail of someone higher than the person I am currently dealing with. If that person refuses to help me, I will be filing a complaint through the Better Business Bureau.
I really wish this wasn't happening, because although I know it is not the fault of UHH or anyone involved with them, it is kind of turning me away from them. Leisha Hailey is awesome. I haven't heard many bad stories about her at all. Cam seems cool too. I know it is not their fault, but can you really blame me? A website associated with them pointed me toward Nettwerk and I've had nothing but problems.
Again, I apologize to you all for this rant, but I needed to get it out.
Wednesday Hottie
I really need to get better at posting this for you all. I apologize for skipping last week. Anyway, this week's hottie is Olivia Wilde.
Born in New York City and raised in Washington, D.C. by journalist parents, Olivia graduated from Phillips Academy, where she studied acting. She did everything while in school. She starred in, directed and produced over two dozen school productions. Damn, I wish I was that talented. I can barely keep a blog updated while in school. During her summers, Olivia traveled abroad to places such as Ireland, where she studied at the renowned Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin (she actually has dual citizenship between Ireland and the United States). Upon graduation from Phillips, she moved to L.A. and, while working at a casting agency, landed a small role in the feature "The Girl Next Door." Olivia decided to pursue acting full-time and was soon cast as the female lead in "Skin."
Unfortunately, "Skin" was canceled after only 3 episodes. There were 5 more episdes that never aired. I had never even heard of this show before researching for this blog. Fortunately for us fans, Olivia temporarily moved onto another, more successful, Fox show and portrayed the very sexy wild child Alex Kelly on "The O.C." for 13 episodes. She was the amazingly hot biseuxal who started out dating Seth Cohen and then dated Marissa Cooper for a couple episodes.
She also filmed three new feature films in 2005: "Alpha Dog," "Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas," and "Conversations with Other Women."
Olivia is probably now most known for her role as Remy "13" Hadley, one of Dr. House's new team members. She joined the cast during the fourth season after House's original team quit (Cameron and Foreman) or were fired (Chase). There have been several allusions to 13's sexuality. House has speculated that she is either gay or bisexual. Previews for the current season have shown scenes that allude even more to 13 not being straight.
In addition to her acting work, Olivia is also a team member of the Los Angeles Filmmaker's Cooperative. She serves as the editor in chief of LAFCO NEWS, and as a chair member of the education department. She was the project manager for the LAFCO production of The Lysistrata Project, the first-ever theatrical event for peace held in hundreds of cities world wide. Olivia is now in the midst of planning the first annual LAFCO Future Filmmakers Festival made up entirely of work produced by people between the ages of 6 and 18.
Her dog, Paco, was the mascot for Old Navy in 2006. Olivia is an avid supporter of Barack Obama, and campaigned for him during early primaries with House co-star Kal Penn. She is also a supporter of the youth voter organization, 18 in '08. She serves on their Advisory Council and appeared in a PSA that debuted June 30, 2008.
Sorry for the small amount of information. There doesn't seem to be much information on Miss Olivia Wilde. She seems as mysterious as her character 13.

Dancing Gays
So last night a new season of Dancing with the Stars commenced. I have to say, while I don't rush to the tv when this comes on, if I remember its on, I watch it. I've always liked watching DwtS since Drew Lachey (the Thriller dance? AWESOME) won with Cheryl Burke (who use to be really hot, but now not so much). I watched when Joey Fatone of NSync fame made it all the way to the top two to lose to some short ice skating (yes I know he's a speedy skater which is a little more manly than just ice skating, but I'm making fun of him here). I wish I had watched Mel B, I would have loved to see the rest of the Spice Girls cheering her on. I unfortunately had a night class when Marlee Matlin was on, but I voted for her every night, even if I didn't get to watch the show.
This season, there's a couple reasons why I am watching:
Lance Bass (NSync): Another former boy bander on the cast? Another NSyncer on the cast? I probably would have preferred JC to Lance, but at least this season has a true gay cast member (Marlee was awesome cause she was on the L Word). I was not expecting much from Lance. I always thought he was the worse dancer, worse than Joey (who was not all that great back in the day). Anyway, Lance actually looked pretty good, better than he ever did with NSync. Best Part: Lance actually had two awesome parts, first, when his dance partner mentioned she use to think her and him would marry, "Guess not anymore." and secondly, Lance's "I learned to never listen to Joey." (I may have gotten those quotations a little wrong, but I will try to find the true quotations as soon as possible).
Misty May (whatever her married name is): Misty May's costume is probably the most clothes a lot of her fans have seen her in, and thats saying something considering how skimpy all the women's costumes are (except the old lady, but I'll get back to her). Misty's dance partner is the returning Maksim. I have to say, Maks is the only guy on the professional dancer side that I think is even slightly attractive.
Cloris Leachman: Cloris is the oldest member of the cast. And she's pretty awesome. She sat in the female judge's lap AFTER putting one leg up on the table and having the flamboyant judge kiss it.
Other Gay News:
Clay Aiken is GAY ... um, nah really?

Clueless People
So, I'm in a LGBT Families class. What we discuss is pretty obvious from the title. I think it should be a class that requires at least one other LGBT class as a prerequsite. There are some people (most people) in there, that have no clue about current LGBTQ issues (and for those who don't know, the Q stands for Queer).
"Homosexual"
I really don't like this word. There are so many things wrong with it. For one, its totally old school. No one in the LGBT community uses the word anymore. It has such a bad history. Homosexuality use to be a disease and thats when the term homosexuality first came about, when it was actually put in the big book of diseases. Homosexuality signifies there is something to cure. Whenever you read an article about gay rights, you can always tell what way the publication leans by whether they say gay rights or homosexual rights.
A group of my classmates were giving a presentation today. There were four people, three of them used homosexual every time they were talking about someone who was gay. I couldn't help but cringe every single time I heard them utter that word.
"Sexual Orientation" vs "Sexual Preference"
I don't think that even my professor realizes the differences between these two phrases. She mentioned them today, but did not explain. The biggest difference is kind of like the example I mentioned about with homosexuality. People who use orientation, usually believe that being gay is NOT a choice, that you are born gay. People who use preference, are the ones who believe being gay is a choice.
There was one girl who tried to say if a person was transexual, they were attracted to people who are transgendered. Really? Are you that dense? Transexual means kind of the same thing as transgendered, just it usually refers to epople who have or are planning to have SRS (Sex reassignment surgery).
Politically Correct
There are a lot of people in my class who don't understand that the terminology has changed over the years. It is no longer correct to call someone a hermaphrodite, they are intersexed. I actually had someone ask me what intersex meant. You learn this in Introduction to LGBT Studies. That class should definitely be a prereq to this class.
Some Good Notes
So, a few good things did happen in class. Obviously the above bad things were corrected, so people were educated. Also, some new terms were brought up that I know none of these people had heard before, but aren't commonly used anyway. Pansexual was mentioned (being attracted to any and all people), as well androgynous. Both terms needed to be explained, but at least these poeple who are completely clueless, learned something new. Also, because of the reading, people learned why there is sch a stigma on AIDS/HIV. There were a couple people who freely admitted that they had not known AIDS use to be called GRIDS (gay-related immune deficiency syndrome).
I would like to say, that not knowing any of these things is not a totally bad thing. What I am saying is, if you are going to take a LGBT studies class, especially an advanced class that is a 400 level, than you should do a little research and get some background information on the subject. You know, maybe just learn a few key phrases, especially things that you should NOT say.

The Horribleness
First, I purposely did not post anything until after the SIDS walk because I wanted my post about SIDS to be the very first thing you saw.
After that though, well, was just me being lazy and a bad blogger, but I had some personal stuff that I had to take care of this week, but I just got back from the last thing and so I now have a little more time, and am not stressing out over anything other than homework.
I'll try to get a bunch of posts up this weekend. Then hopefully I will be able to get into the swing of updating on a regular basis.

Wednesday Hottie ... Belated
Okay, so, its the second time in a row that I am late with Wednesday Hottie. Sorry about that. Also, this week, my Hottie is a little different. I haven't chosen a celebrity. I've actually chosen a celebrity's mother. I'm sure many of you know Gabrielle Christian, star of the N's South of Nowhere. Well, this week, Gabrielle's mother, Joani Horchler, is my Wednesday Hottie.
Many of you might be wondering why I have chosen Mrs. Horchler as this week's Hottie. As you may have noticed, Gabrielle has a different last name than her mother. This is because Christian is just a stage name. Gabrielle lost her baby brother, Christian, from SIDS and decided to take his name as her last name. Mrs. Horchler decided to do something to help other women who have lost babies and to help prevent more women from losing their babies. Mrs. Horchler started SIDS Survivial Guide. On the website it says:
My grandparents lost their oldest child before he was even a year old. There was nothing like this book to help them deal and cope. They only had each other to lean on. They only had each other's shoulders to cry on. I have never had to experience losing a child, and I pray that I never will, but people lose thier children every day, and while Mrs. Horchler's work focuses on babies, parents lose older children as well.
The reason why I chose this week to tell you all about Mrs. Horchler and her work to educate people about SIDS is because this Sunday, the 14th, is the annual SIDS charity walk at Buddy Attick Park in Greenbelt, Maryland. The past two years, I have attended the walk (I even was able to drag my father out there last year). It's amazing seeing all the people who show up and support the Horchlers. Gabrielle is there every year and does not seem to mind talking with fans. I have been able to speak with her briefly every year, I got a picture with her the first year, and an autograph for myself (which unfortunately got lost when I moved off campus this spring) and best friend. I regret not being able to go this year, since I have committed myself to another event, but I will be sending in a donation and urge anyone who reads this to do the same or if you'll be in the area, please, attend the walk and make a small donation, even the smallest amount can help.
The park at which the event is held is beautiful and I believe the weather is supposed to be nice. The path is around a lake and every now and then, you'll get an awesome view of the sun reflecting off the lake between the trees. Even if you aren't a fan of Gabrielle Christian, but are a photography buff, this is a great place to get some great nature shots. And again, its for charity.
I've included this link to Mrs. Horchler's website above where you can get more information, the flyer picture above, and directions to the park. I hope some of you are able to attend and show your support for Gabrielle Christian, her family, and SIDS.

Our Mission is to support families (and helping professionals) grieving babies lost to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome through informational material like the book THE SIDS & INFANT DEATH SURVIVAL GUIDE and DANCING ON THE MOON and through free peer counseling and referral services.Unfortunately, I can't find any more pictures of Mrs. Horchler (she is holding the white dog in the group photo). I think it is wonderful that she was able to take this horrible event in her life, and do something to help others dealing with the same thing. Part of what Mrs. Horchler did, was to co-author a book, SIDS and Infant Death Survival Guide (I believe Gabrielle has either a poem or short story in the book as well).

I Love Ellen
I have always loved Ellen. She's hilarious. She's also one of the bravest women on television. She came out when it was accepted at all. She came out on her television show and showed what life was like coming out at such a late age.
I love that she found someone she loves and who loves her back. Ellen and Portia look so happy and in love. They belong together.
One of the authors of Leisha Hailey Fan Blog posted the following video from Ellen's show.
My favorite thing about the whole video is in almost every picture, if Ellen isn't looking at the camera, she's looking at Portia. I really hope they last. Ellen deserves some happiness, so does Portia.

Thursday's Line Up
Hey everyone! I'm back with a preview of the shows coming up soon.
THURSDAY
CSI - 9pm, CBS
Everyone is leaving this show. Jorja Fox left last season, Gary Dourdan's Warrick was shot at the end of the season finale, and now the great William Petersen is leaving, but not before everyone comes back. Sara returns (WOOT!!) to help solve Warrick's murder. Lady Heather returns evenn. We get some new faces too. Laurence Fishburne comes on in an attempt to replace Grissom (will never work out) and Lauren Lee Smith (our beloved soup chef from LWord) joins the cas as a "young and sarcastic" CSI. Two reddish-blonde haired women on one show? Thank you CBS!
Grey's Anatomy - 9pm, ABC
So, I now know why I only recently became obsessed with this show. It comes on the same time as CSI. Thank goodness for ondemand and episodes on the Internet. This time conflict is the only reasonable explanation. I can't wait for this season to start. not much has been revealed about what will happen between Callie and Erica, but ll looks promising with Shonda Rhimes and the actresses meeting with GLAAD representatives. Also, Rhimes has promised that neither of the women will become pregnant anytime soon like a lot of shows decide to do.
ER - 10pm, NBC
Wow. This fall, ER begins its 15th and final season. I think tis show started my fascination with red heads. No one liked Dr. Kerry Weaver, but she was the person everyone answered to. She was a strong female haracter and she was a leader. Oh yea, and she was a lesbian. Weaver met and fell in loved with Dr. Kim Legaspi (Elizabeth Mitchell) (I may have that misspelled). They broke up and then she met Sandy the firefighter. They had a baby. Sandy died and Weaver had to fight Sandy's parents for the baby. I just wish she was coming back, maybe even Kim, instead of just stupid Carter.

Sisters Coming Up on Television
Okay, so, a couple of these shows have already premiered, and I forgot to get the premiere dates for most of them. Here's a preview of what's coming up this fall that I might cover. Today I'll post Sunday through Wednesday, then will continue each day with that day's schedule.
WARNING: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUNDAY
True Blood - 9pm, HBO
It's a cable show about vampires, I'm sure there will be some sign of someone not being completely heterosexual, don't know much else about this show, but I've always been a fan of supernatural shows. Oh and everyone seems to have a southern accent. Accents are hot.
MONDAY
The Big Bang Theory - 8pm, CBS
I've never watched this, but I loved Darlene and David on Roseanne and apparently the two are reuniting. Also, Sara Gilbert is an out lesbian on television, all the more reason to wach. we need to keep LGBT people on television as long as possible.
Terminator - 8pm, FOX
Two women kicking ass and taking names in an effort to save a guy, one of which is Lena Heady, the wonderful Luce from Imagine Me & You. Women in tank tops are hot.
How I Met Your Mother - 8:30pm, CBS
Alyson Hannigan. 'Nough said. There's also good ol' Doogie Howser, Neil Patrick Harris. There hasn't been much LGBT characters on the show, just Harris playing a manwhore.
TUESDAY
House - 8pm, FOX
So, Cut-throat Bitch is dead and Wilson hates House because he blames him for Amber's death. An extended preview for next weeks premiere show some very interesting scenes between 13 (Olivia Wilde) and a female patient. I just hopw Mischa Barton doesn't play the patient. Oh, and it looks like House and Cuddy will finally hook-up.
Fringe - 9pm, FOX
A television series by J.J. Abrams? I have to watch at least the first episode. Alias was pretty awesome. I became obsessed with Lost almost immediately after watching one episode. also, I want to see what part that one guy thats in everything Abrams does has.
This premiered yesterday.
Law & Order: SVU - 10pm, NBC
Unfortunately, there is no longer any subtext between Olivia and any woman. Olivia and Alex were hot, especially when Olivia was butch and always wearing tank tops. I haven't watched this much, but they sometimes have awesome guest stars. If only Alex could come back.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday is going to be a tough day. it seems like all the shows are on at the same exact time.
The New Adventures of Old Christine - 8pm, CBS
Same-sex marriages are now legal in California and Christine is taking full advantage of it. Apparently, Christine and her best friend, Barb, get married so Barb can stay in the US. wonder how long it'll last, especially if the ruling gets overturned.
America's Next Top Model - 8pm, CW
11 seasons of ANTM and this one has some surprises. There's one girl who doesn't like labels, but has admitted to having relations with another woman, and rumor has it, she makes out with another contestant on a dare. The biggest surprise? This season includes the shows first transgendered contestant.
Bones - 8pm, FOX
I've always wanted to get into this show, but always forget when it is on. I've heard one character, I believe Angela, has admitted to a relationship with a woman and rumors are flying around that this mystery woman will show up this season.
Knight Rider - 8pm, NBC
The new Knight Rider was originally premiered as a television movie and hinted at a character being lesbian or at least bisexual. She goes home to a naked woman in her bed. So far, there's no news on whether her character will remain lesbian and unfortunately its not looking too good.
Private Practice - 9pm, ABC
SO, I know you guys have probably already realized that I love Grey's Anatomy. It would only make sense that I like the spin-off as well, right ? Well, I've never actually seen the spin-off, but I do love Kate Walsh as Addison Montgomery. She was just the right amount of bitchy sarcasm and a heart. her voice drives me insane. Oh, and if it weren't for her one episode reappearence on Grey's last season, Callie might have never considered a relationship with Erica.
Sons of Anarchy - 10pm, FX
I'm actually watching this right now. I had seen a preview for tonight's episode and it looked like there might be some girl on girl action between Katey Segal (Married with Children, 8 Simple Rules) and another character.

Is it really the end already?
So, this has absolutely nothing to do with anything remotely LGBT, but I love football, especially New England Patriots football.
Yesterday, in their season opener, the Patriots beat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10. Unfortunately, they lost quarterback Tom Brady for the game, and most likely for the season. Brady was injured early in the first quarter when he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw, and collided with Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. Brady’s left knee buckled as he followed through with the pass, and he went down holding the area just below his kneecap. You can see footage of the injury here. Wide receiver Randy Moss was able to catch the pass, but then fumbled it and the Chiefs were ale to recover the ball. Brady had a 128 consecutive starts, the 3rd longest streak in NFL history.
I have no clue what this injury could mean for the Patriots this season. Maybe Cassel will be able step up like Brady did back when Bledsoe got hurt and we first found out about the awesomeness that is Brady. I don't see that happening though. The Patriots were lucky with Brady, its not likely they'll get that lucky again. We can only hope that the defense is able to hold the other teams' offenses enough that our offense won't have to work hard.
Today I am wearing Brady's jersey, good ol' number 12, in honor of the great player he is. Also, it might be my only chance to wear it this season. I hope the New England Patriots and their fans, hear some good news today. Brady is supposed to get an MRI. Maybe, just maybe, it isn't as bad as everyone thinks.

L Word Spinoff
It is official, Leisha Hailey will be starring, as Alice Pieszeck, in the upcoming L Word Spin-off.
You can read more about it here.
Alice has always been one of my favorite characters, behind only Erin Daniel's Dana Fairbanks. Since I first heard of the spin-off, I've wished and wished that Alice would be the main character. I'm not sure how they will explain why she is no longer around the rest of the cast, but I'm sure they will come up with something, as long as they don't have her doing something that is completely out of character for her.
Wednesday Hottie ... Belated
So how many of you are regular readers/viewers of the blogs and vlogs on Afterellen.com? Well, today's Hottie (only a couple days late) is one of the wonderful Vloggers. You can see her in We're Getting Nowhere.
This week's hottie is ... Jill Bennett!
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jill discovered her love for performance at a relatively late age of 16 when she starred as the title character in a school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (my high school did this my sophomore year).
She studied theatre at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
She then headed to Hollywood and landed her first television role as a nurse on a daytime soap, which I could not find the title.
Most people know Jill from the weekly AfterEllen vlog I mentioned earlier, "We're Getting Nowhere," which she co-hosts with Dara Nai and Karman Kregloe. Sometimes referred to as "the terrible three," Jill and her co-hosts recap different television shows, the first of which was South of Nowhere. They have also recapped It has been announced that after they finish recapping season 1 of The L word, it will be the end of WGN, which really sucks, but I realize they have lives of their own. Personally, I believe one of the coolest things about WGN is that it is filmed in Jill's living room (the first episode, and a few others are actually filmed in her bedroom).
You can also see Jill in the lesbian webseries, 3Way, with Maeve Quinlan, Cathy Shim, and Maile Flanagan. Jill plays Andrea, the new girlfriend of Roxie (Cathy) who recently moved in with her straight best friend, Siobhan (Maeve), creating the 3Way in the title, but Geri (Maile), Roxie's ex, pushes herself into the group. 3Way includes a couple different shows within the show. Siobhan is on a soap opera, her co-star played by Rob Moran (Arthur Carlin from South of Nowhere). She also tried out for a show, Lady Cops, which is a parody of Niki and Nora (with Christina Cox and Liz Vassay as the main characters). The show has had several other guest stars including Mandy Musgrave (SoN), Kristy Swanson (BtVS movie), Elizabeth Keener (LWord), Jenny Shimizu, and others.
Jill is currently in Dante's Cove on here!, a premium cable network. Created by Michael Costanza and directed by Sam Irvin, Dante's Cove combines elements of the horror and soap opera genres in telling the story of Kevin (Gregory Michael) and Toby (Charlie David), a young couple seeking to be together and overcome the dark mystical forces that conspire to separate them. Jill joined the cast during season 3 (I believe replacing Erin Cummings). I don't know much about this show, have not watched a single episode and wikipedia does not have much at all, but it does explain some of the mythology behind the show. Thea Gill (Queer as Folk) and Michelle Wolff joined the cast during the second season and Jenny Shimizu joined during the third.
Jill joined the Sugar Daddy Show drag king troupe, which quickly established itself as one of the premiere cabaret acts in the west. One of her characters, Butch Monroe is the current reigning drag king of Los Angeles. I am trying to see if there are any pictures in existance. I'm currently awaiting friend approval on MySpace.
In addition to her acting endeavors, she has co-created four new television series, all currently residing in development hell.
According to her official website, "her deepest desire is for world peace and complete equality for all...(and a series regular role on a good television show.)"
I love Jill in everything I've seen her in, which granted, isn't much, but still. WGN is hilarious, as is 3Way. Her role in The Pleasure Drivers was a little odd. I don't think she had any lines and the whole raping a man in the butt with her gun wrapped in plastic thing was kind of disturbing, but I was sad to see her die in the end. I haven't seen it, but apparently she is really good in the movie "In the Line of Fire."
Also, Jill was number 3 on AfterEllen's Hot 100.
You can learn more about Jill at her official site, which I have a link above, IMDb, and AfterEllen.

The Horribleness that is school ...
I am very sorry for not updating much this week. I started classes on Tuesday and my life has been hectic, frustrating, and extremely stressful for multiple reasons. I just may end up taking on my university. They are seriously trying to ruin my life right now, and they don't seem to give a shit (excuse the language).
As soon as I post this, I will begin work on a belated Wednesday Hottie. I've had the star of this week's Hottie blog in mind probably since I blogged about Leisha Hailey last week (and I have some news about Ms. Leisha that I will post later).
Oh, and starting this month, at the end of every month, I will create a poll entitled, "Hottie of the Month." You all will then be able to vote on which of the four/five (depending on how many Wednesdays there are in each month) Wednesday Hotties you believe is the hottest. I will then post some more pictures of the winner.
Now, let me stop this rant and get on with the Wednesday Hottie Post.

Sorry everyone ...
I know, I know, its kinda late, but, it is still Thursday.
There probably won't be another Big Brother update on here until the finale, because, well, everyone I like is gone. Angie is gone, Jesse is gone, April is gone, now Michelle AND Ollie have been voted out. Michelle was backdoored by the now lying Dan. Too bad too, I really wanted Dan to win before the crap he pulled this week. At least the showmance of Ollie and April will be back together, and we don't have to watch it. :0) Although, I bet they show something about the two of them on Sunday.
I'll try my hardest to get the next fave lesbian couples blog tomorrow.

Wednesday Hottie
Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay, but I could not decide on this week's Wednesday Hottie until my best friend called me and gave me some amazing news.
She was supposed to interview the beautiful, wonderful, and multi-talented, Leisha Hailey tonight (but unfortunately got postponed since Leisha was still fliming).
Everyone who knows of her, seems to love Leisha Hailey. She does everything, she acts, sings, writes songs, and is apparently very grateful and nice to her friends. Most of you probably only know her from The L Word, but Leisha has also been in episodes of Ellen (she was an extra in the infamous coming out episode), Boy Meets World (a guitar playing optimist turned emo when Eric broke her heart to optimist again), Grey's Anatomy (an outdoorswoman who suffers from the flesh eating disease), and CSI. You are probably saying to yourself, Leisha was never in CSI, but she was. It was just kind of hard to recognize her. Leisha's first major role was in All Over Me. Leisha is also in a long running series of Yoplait commercials in which her and at least one other women compare Yoplait yogurt, to other things they consider good.
Leisha was born on July 11, 1971 in Okinawa, Japan. She grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska, attending Bellevue West High School where she played the leading male role of "Oliver" in her school play. She is a 5'6", a vegetarian and is currently datinig fashion designer and owner of Free City, Nina Garduno.
Leisha came out as a lesbian when she was a teenager and moved to New York City where she graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1991. She formed the rock duo The Murmurs (changed to Gush in 2001) with her former classmate at the academy Heather Grody. They released 3 albums, as well as performing on several movie soundtracks and touring with Lilith Fair. Their biggest album, Blender, included songs produced by k.d. lang, Leisha's significant other for several years. She was also the inspiration for lang's album, Invincible Summer. Leisha left Gush for several years due to her busy acting schedule. They did however release one self-titled album which was only sold at gigs.
She made her television series debut on Showtime's The L Word in 2004 as Alice Pieszecki; a sharp-witted, bisexual magazine writer. Since then The L Word has received multiple awards and critical praise. Leisha herself was chosen as one of Denton Record Chronicle's "Top 10 Ladies Who Made 2004 Memorable."
In 2005, Leisha founded Marfa Records. Leisha is now in a new band, Uh Huh Her, where she is a singer and guitarist, together with Camila Grey (producer, vocals, synth, bass). They released an EP entitled I See Red on July 24, 2007. They also released their first full length album Common Reaction, on August 19, 2008 with Nettwerk Records / Live Nation.
In 2007, Hailey was named the sexiest woman in the AfterEllen Hot 100 list compiled by AfterEllen.com. She responded to topping the list with:
On April 28, 2008, Hailey was named Olivia Cruises' new spokesperson.
While researching Leisha for this blog, I learned some things I had never known before. Accoring to wikipedia, she was a big soccer player, and the article even included a quote.
Leisha's character, Alice, is probably one the of realest characters from TLW. She plays her so well, its hard to remember that Alice, is not real. You just want to fight for her. You want her to see some kind of happiness. I love that she has fun with her character. She'd make a pretty good writer too. She is known for ad-libbing on a couple occasions, one of which made the following scene, hilarious.
For those of you who are still wondering when the hell Leisha was on CSI, here's her scene:
The same person who posted this video, has also posted a video of Leisha's transformation for the part.

Wow, I don't even know what to say. I hope Angelina's not mad at me. I have to say this really makes up for the time I was on the Homecoming Court in high school with my boyfriend (yes I had one) and he won and I didn't. So thanks to everyone. I'll try and keep up my hotness.
On April 28, 2008, Hailey was named Olivia Cruises' new spokesperson.

"I was a soccer star… I was a goalscorer, but then I busted my knee out and my whole career ended."There are so many reasons to love Leisha Hailey. As I have mentioned before, she's beautiful and talented. I know a couple people who have met her, and they have said she was one of the nicest people they have ever met. Hell, how often to stars do phone interviews with people they met at a conert who then start a fanblog?

Coming back again ... hopefully
So, soon all the new shows will premiere, and all our old faves will return. It's that time of the year again. My good friend Kat gave me the idea of doing a recap of sort of my favorite lesbian couples from last season. I then decided to stretch it out a couple days and do more than just last season, but those will start coming on Thursday. Now, here are my top favorite lesbian couples from last season.
Looking at old posts, I'm sure you all can guess one of my faves. While Callie and Erica didn't officially become a couple at all last season, the last several episodes hinted at it coming. So, without further ado, here's the kiss between Callie and Erica on the season finale of Grey's Anatomy.
Callie has been on the show since the middle of season one, when all of a sudden she was everywhere. She quickly became on of the main characters as she developed a relationship with one of the interns, George. Erica made a couple cameos early on but did not become a regular until after Preston Burke left (I'm sure many of you remember the whole Isiah Washington calling T.R. Knight a fag). These two characters became friends and Callie and George broke up after George had an affair with Izzy. Callie never even considered Erica has more than a friend until Addison came back for one episode and said something to her. Callie than started sleeping with McSteamy, and well, the rest you saw in the video.
There weren't that many lesbian couples on network television last season (if any other than Callica). So, we're moving on to cable. There were several different couples on The L Word, as there usually are, and its actually kind of hard for me to choose just one. Bette and Tina got back together, although, unlike a lot of people, I loved Bette and Jodi. Jenny seemed to have a good relationship until the end, even Shane had a good thing going for her, until Molly's mom decided to mess with Shane's head (btw, what is it with Shane and art shows? She keeps getting her heart broken at them). I, this time like a lot of people, LOVED Alice and Tasha. Alice has always been one of my faves (became my fave after Dana died) and it was good to see her happy. PS, I am trying to keep this clean, so you'll have to go to youtube to see more provocative scenes. This video does have several parts to it.
Alice and Tasha's relationship began during the fourth season. Tasha, a solider in the Army Reserves, was a friend of Papi's. The two met and sparks flew. In the fifth season, Tasha is kicked out of the army for being gay. At first she was fighting the system, but after seeing Alice get grilled, decided the Army was not worth hiding her life. As the fifth season ended, it looked as though Alice was contemplating having an affair.
The third couple is Spashley or for those of you who have no clue what that means, Spencer and Ashley from South of Nowhere. In season 3A, Spencer and Ashley's relationship was pretty rocky, but at the end, it seemed like things were getting good again. Spashley is probably one of the youngest lesbian couples on television, both girls were in high school when they started dating.
Warning, this video contains some scenes from Season 3B, which has not aired in the US yet. The "spoiler" scenes are clearly marked.
Spencer and Ashley started out as just friends in Season one, but by the end of the season, they were falling in bed together (literally). Season two opened up the morning after one ended, and hinted that the two had sex. One of the most emotional episodes of SoN happened during season two, when Spencer's mother, Paula, walked in on Spencer and Ashley about to have sex. The rest of the season seemed to focus more on Paula's refusal to accept Spencer and Ashley. While Spencer and Ashley went to prom together, at the end it did not look like they were survive as a couple much longer. Season three opened, Spencer's brother was dead, Aiden had been shot, and Ashley was leaving LA. When she came back, Spashley as over and Ashley was dating Aiden. Spencer ended up dating another girl, Carmen, but netiher of those relationships lasted through the first half of season 3. 3A ended with Spencer, standing naked in Ashley's door.
So, while these were my fave lesbian couples from last season, there weren't many others. Like I said, I only wanted to include one from The L Word, so there's a few couples left out, but there just weren't that many on television. If you remember more, please, comment and let me know.

Wednesday Hottie
The title of these hopefully weekly posts is a work in progress. Yes, I am kind of borrowing the idea from a fellow blogger, Dorothy Snarker of Dorothy Surrenders, but I hope she does not mind.
Our first hottie is: ALICIA SACRAMONE. Alicia is our first hottie mainly because I have a huge crush on this girl.
Almost everyone knows who Alicia Sacramone is. If you don't, where the hell have you been? Living under a rock? Anyways, Alicia is a member of the US Olympic gymnastics team. Yes, she's the one that fell during her floor routine and off the beam, but you know what? She nailed the rest of her beam routine. I don't think Shawn Johnson or Nastia Luikin would have been able to do a near perfect routine after a devastating fall like that at the very beginning. And then the poor girl loses bronze in vault to a person who couldn't even land her second vault (and the girl who got gold LANDED out of bounds both times? WTF?). I wanted to cry when the camera panned over her and the lights reflected off the tears forming in her eyes. But enough of that. Wanna know why this girl is hot?
Does this answer your question?
Alicia Sacramone was born on December 3, 1987 in Boston, MA. As a child, she enrolled in dance classes, but found them boring and switched to gymnastics when she was nearly 9. She reached the elite level at age 12.
Alicia has been on the national team for four years. Not only is Alicia a world class gymnast, her freshman year of college, at Brown University (beauty and brains), she combined a full-time student schedule, NCAA gymnastics, and elite gymnastics. Talk about determination.
Now, on to some of the reasons why I am totally crushing, other than looks. Her favorite athlete? Tedy Bruschi, linebacker of the New England Patriots, who is my favorite athlete ... other than Alicia. Her favorite television show? Grey's Anatomy, which if you look at earlier posts, you will see I am obsessed with that show. She also like Dancing with the Stars and would like to be a competitor one day.
Alicia has had her ups and downs like everyone, but she was still seen as the team leader.
Alicia seems like a normal person, not like a gold medal winning athlete. She seems easy going.
You all might still be asking, why exactly is Alicia the first Wednesday Hottie? Well, I'm not sure how else to explain it. She beautiful, smart, talented, determined, seems friendly and easy going, open, doesn't give up, and many other things that I just cannot think of right now. If you're still asking that question, well, maybe you should just get over it.

****EDIT: As Kaye pointed out in her comment, Alicia, along with Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, are all Covergirl models. I believe the three of them are the first athletes to be signed as Covergirl models.

What's it like straddling two worlds: the freedom of college versus the structure of training camps?
It drives me a little bit crazy. I'm used to being able to do whatever I want whenever I want. At camp it's like lights out at 10 o'clock ... I'm not usually even close to my dorm at 10 o'clock.

I never saw myself as the team leader. I remember being the youngest on national team and out of nowhere, I'm now an older sister figure ... It's weird to be in that position, but I don't mind it at all.

People don't see that we're normal people too. We like to gossip and talk about boys. We got some heat for being a little outspoken this year. People have come to me and said, 'You don't act like a gymnast.' I'm like, 'Well how is a gymnast supposed to act?'
